Come see what it's about Saturday, December 7th at 10am-12noon while Lowes team presents the Build and Grow workshop for kids!
The RYAC dream became a reality as we celebrated our grand opening on Saturday, September 7th from 11am - 1pm in the Tiffany Park Building (1902 Lake Youngs Way SE, Renton WA). There were dignitaries including Mayor Law and several city council members, represenetatives from the offices of Congressman Adam Smith, state representative Marcie Maxwell, representatives from the Renton Chamber of Commerce and Ikea, as well as RYAC board members and volunteers. Light refreshments were served and several prizes were raffled off. The Renton Reporter recently wrote a great article prior to the opening that increase interest: CLICK HERE TO READ.
This was a huge step towards fulfilling our vision of providing a center in the Cascade area of Renton that can mentor, counsel, tutor, and give kids a recreational alternative to 'hanging out' and getting in trouble. We are still, and will always be, seeking volunteers to help make this dream a reality... it's a great opportunity to strengthen our community.
We are always seeking donations as we are a non-profit organization in Washington State; donations can be addressed to "Renton Youth Advocacy Center". We are covered by 501c(3) and our tax ID information is available upon request. Your assistance will help kids in Renton have a safe place to learn and grow. We are completely volunteer and partnered with The City of Renton and the Renton Police Department. Mayor Dennis Law, the Police Chief and several city council members have offered their support as this is a win-win for our kids and the City.
** A HUGE THANK YOU to IKEA for their donations and continued support of the Renton Youth Advocacy Center. We received numerous items from IKEA (futons, couches, storage shelves, etc.), as well as an investment in time, and they have been an integral part of helping us open our doors!
The Renton Youth Advocacy Center's main purpose is to help create a community where at-risk youth are accepted, nurtured and guided to be thriving, active and engaged members of society.
